Replace the battery—even if the remote LED still lights, the radio chip needs more voltage than the LED does. CR2032, 3V A23, or 9V depending on model. If that doesn't work, hold the remote within 6 feet of the opener and try again to rule out range loss.
**LiftMaster / Chamberlain (yellow, purple, orange, green, red learn button):** press and release the learn button, then within 30 seconds press the remote button. Opener lights flash once = paired.
**Genie (Intellicode):** press the program-set button on the motor head until the round LED turns blue, then press the remote button twice.
If neither works, the opener's logic board receiver is likely dead—a $145–$245 repair, or sometimes time for a new opener.
Different accessories store separately. Keypad batteries (usually a 9V) die every 18–24 months in Chattanooga heat. We re-program keypads on-site and stock universal keypads if yours is beyond repair.
