Warning signs your cables are about to fail
Visible fraying or 'fishhooks' of broken strand at the bottom bracket. Rust spots along the cable—Chattanooga's humidity is brutal on standard galvanized cables, especially within a few miles of the Tennessee River. A door that lifts unevenly with one side higher than the other. Cables hanging loose off the drum at the top. A bottom bracket that looks bent or pulled away from the door panel.
Catch any of those before the cable snaps and you turn a $200 repair into a $400+ off-track job.
