What each noise actually means
**Loud BANG (one-time).** Almost always a snapped torsion spring. Don't operate the door—call us.
**Grinding from the opener head.** Stripped main drive gear. Common on 8–12 year-old LiftMaster and Chamberlain chain drives.
**Squealing / squeaking.** Dry rollers, hinges, and bearings. A lube service usually cures it; if rollers are nylon-on-steel with flat spots, they need replacement.
**Popping along the tracks.** Worn nylon or steel rollers bouncing on a track joint. Replace with sealed 13-ball nylon rollers.
**Rattling / vibrating.** Loose track lag bolts, loose hinge screws, or loose strut bolts. A 20-minute tightening pass usually solves it.
**Scraping on the seal.** Bottom astragal or side weather seal has hardened. Cheap fix.
